Practical resources for builders, business owners and property teams.

The Netlink resources hub collects the practical, printable material we've written for the people who actually build, fit out and manage sites in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Cessnock and the wider Hunter. It's aimed at commercial builders and head contractors preparing new-build handover packs, project managers coordinating structured cabling and NBN readiness across multi-trade programs, commercial property owners planning refits or CCTV upgrades, IT providers scoping cabling for a client site, and homeowners preparing for an FTTP upgrade or a granny-flat rewire.

Every guide here is written from real installs — not marketing brochures — and covers the material we get asked about most: NBN readiness checklists for new home builds, cabling comparison guides (Cat6 vs Cat6A vs fibre), commercial site preparation for Enterprise Ethernet, home wiring for FTTP, warehouse and factory CCTV planning, and Wi-Fi & internet troubleshooting playbooks. Everything is free to download, no sign-up required, and written to be printed on-site and handed to the trades who need it.

Featured guide

Long-form, printable and locally focused.

Each guide below is written for a specific audience — builders, developers, IT providers or homeowners — and structured so you can print it, mark it up on-site and hand it to the trade who needs it. Where a step involves a third party (electrician, internet provider or the NBN-appointed technician), we call it out explicitly so nothing falls between the trades on handover day. Every guide is written in line with current ACMA Structured Cabling and Optical-Fibre requirements and is updated whenever the underlying rules or NBN processes change.

Ready to move from planning to install?

Once the plans have been drawn and the resources here reviewed, the next step is usually a site walk-through and a scoped fixed- price quote. Netlink's four core commercial services below cover the vast majority of what property teams and builders request — from structured cabling rough-ins on new builds through to CCTV coverage planning for warehouses and multi-tenancy sites, NBN business-site readiness audits and customer-side Wi-Fi troubleshooting. Each links through to a dedicated page with inclusions, typical scope, coverage areas and honest pricing drivers.

More reading

From the Netlink blog.

Longer-form articles that go deeper than a checklist can — cost- driver breakdowns, comparison tables, real-project write-ups and pre-installation FAQ answers written specifically for Newcastle and Hunter conditions. These read as background reading rather than as job instructions, and are aimed at the person who owns the outcome — the project manager, business owner or homeowner — not the trade doing the physical work.

The last 20% usually needs a site-specific conversation.

Every project is different. The checklists and guides on this page get you 80% of the way, but the last 20% almost always needs a site-specific conversation. If you're preparing a new build for NBN handover, scoping structured cabling for a commercial fit- out, planning CCTV coverage for a warehouse or multi-tenancy site, upgrading a residence for FTTP, or working through a fibre backbone specification for a commercial tender, Netlink can help. Send us the plans — or just a photo of the switchboard and the lead-in wall — and one of our ACMA-registered cablers or licensed security installers will come back with a written recommendation and a fixed-price quote you can share with your client, your builder or your property manager. There's no charge for the initial review and no obligation to proceed.
